FEARS
• one of gavin's biggest fears is anything ever happening to his kid brother, spencer. that kid is his entire freaking world, and if something happened to him, he'd probably drive himself crazy thinking of the ways that he could have prevented it.
• the dark is pretty up there on gavin's list of things that he tends to stay away from. not too many people know it, but if there's not just a little light, even if it's just from his cellphone, he freaks out. it's always been unappealing to him.
• living without a purpose. it doesn't really seem like that big of a deal, but gavin would hate to go through his life knowing that there was nothing that he did that really made a difference. he wants to know that he left some sort of imprint on someone or something.
• car crashes. he doesn't ever want to witness or relive what his sister went through the night of her senior prom.
STRENGTHS
• writing. it's always been something that gavin's been good at. it sort of allows him to escape every day life and just get out what he feels, however metaphorically he wants.
• listening. it's another thing that gavin's pretty proud to say that he's good at. while he's not too much of the talker, he's always open to listen to whatever problems people feel the need to vent.
• putting on a front. even when this kid's in a bad mood, he can pretty much fool anyone into believing that he's feeling great.
• standing his ground. when gavin's set in something, it's really hard to change his mind. he may seem really quiet and reserved, but he'll stand up for what he believes in.
WEAKNESSES
• his brother. his biggest weakness. all this kid has to do is give gavin puppy eyes and he'd pretty much give his own life for him.
• crying people. gavin never knows what to do when someone cries. he'll try to help, but most of the time it'll end in him stuttering out some kind of 'it's alright', not too much else.
• animals. particularly fuzzy, wide eyed ones. y'know, like puppies or kittens. yeah, put a fuzzy little thing in gavin's arms and he's pretty much mush.
• people that make him blush. surprise, surprise. it's really not that hard to make this kid blush. compliment him or do something cute and you've got him turning red as a tomato. point it out and he'll get even redder. call it cute? he'll probably cover his face and shy away.
• boys that play acoustic guitar & sing cutely. it makes him get all weak in the knees, and he just loves it.
• piercings and tattoos. they're attractive, what more can you say?
GOALS
• find someone he's comfortable enough to lose his virginity to. yeah, it's clichéd, but gavin really wants to find 'the one'. he's a closet romantic, what can he say. he definitely doesn't want to stay a virgin his entire life.
• play to a sold out arena. kinda like madison square garden or something like it. he loves the rush he feels when he performs, and he hopes the bigger the crowds get, the bigger the rush is.
SECRETS
• when he was fifteen, he tried to commit suicide after his sister's death, and was admitted to the hospital for some time. he had convinced his parents to tell everyone that he was in there for health complications. he still has the scars on his wrists that are a dark pink in color, but he tries his best to hide them.
• gavin's a virgin. sure, he's kissed his share of people, but he doesn't really feel that comfortable around anyone enough to do that. he's come close, but he's always backed out at the last minute because he didn't feel comfortable enough.
PERSONALITY
gavin's pretty diverse when it comes to his personality. at first glance, he's shy, quiet and introverted. however, when you get to know him, he's pretty goofy. he has his own little jokes that he'll bust out every now and then, but more often than not, he's kind of a sit back and relax person. he likes his guitar, and he enjoys singing, not that he'd let anyobody hear him. that's just how he is. ask him to sing something for you and his shy and reserved nature'll come out for sure. it takes him a little while to warm up to people, but when he does warm up to you, you'll know. he can be surprisingly affectionate sometimes, despite his shyness. he likes cuddling, and if he doesn't have anyone to cuddle with, he has his gizmo plushie. yes, a gizmo plushie.
one thing about gavin is that he always put his friends first. if his friends need something, he'll drop everything he's doing and go help them. he's been known to drive out to his friends' houses at three o'clock in the morning because they called him sounding distressed. he's always open to listen to people, and he'd never tell a soul what he heard. he isn't too open to talk to people about his own problems, but he's definitely willing to listen to everyone else. don't expect him to tell you what's going on in his life. if he feels comfortable enough around you, he'll tell you, but if he's just met you or something, good luck getting anything out of him. as shy as gavin is, if you mess with one of his friends, he'll try to stand up for them. he's not really one for standing up for himself, but he'll do all he can to stand up for his friends. he'd do anything he could for the people he cares about.
stick gavin in a group of people that he doesn't know and he'll probably go find the nearest place to sit down, pull out his phone and start texting his friends. he's a bit awkward, and he knows it. he's also very much on the shy side, so that doesn't really help the situation at all. not only is he awkward if you throw him in social situations, but try throwing him in with a girl or a guy in an intimate setting, and you're pretty much asking for a disaster. when gavin likes someone, he gets very shy. it's kind of obvious if you pay attention, because he'll start to blush at everything they say, smile a lot, and generally act like he has a crush on someone. it's quite cute, really; he'll stutter and stumble over his words, look at his hands a lot, blush more than he normally does, the works. it might explain why he doesn't have a boyfriend or girlfriend at the moment.

HISTORY
kristen judd and aaron henderson had a pretty conventional meeting in college; he was in a local band, she took pictures for local bands in her spare time, they were pretty much guaranteed to run into each other at some point in time. he was in an alternative band, she liked alternative music. they were brought together after a gig by a couple of their friends. kirsten had taken pictures for the band that night, and she was reviewing them with aaron. turns out, she was pretty good at what she was doing, even though she wasn't pursuing it. she'd taken pictures at a few more gigs before aaron got the guts to ask her out on a date. of course, she said yes, one thing led to another, and here we are. no need to mention that aaron was almost late for the wedding because his best man blew out a tire on the way to the church and they had to call a tow truck because someone didn't have a spare tire in his trunk. but that's a totally different story for a rainy day when we have time.
they were only married for about two years when kirsten was bringing their first child, a girl, into the world. the girl went by the name of wendy tara, and she was a bit of a hell raiser. she was always getting her fingers into places they didn't belong; like the batter of kirsten's signature pineapple upside down cake. let's just say the little girl was sitting in time or for some time. when wendy was just three years old, our very own baby gavin was born. he was born with a shock of red hair on the crown of his head, and even from a young age, people were calling him ginger. wendy took care of him, even though she hated having to share her things sometimes. she knew that she needed to be a good big sister to her little brother, so she took it upon herself to play with gavin when she could. this caused them to create a very close brother/sister bond. even as wendy entered school and gavin was still young, she included him in things. when she got older, after spencer was born, her friends would always say that gavin was 'so adorable' and 'such a cute little baby.' only problem was, he wasn't exactly a baby anymore. he was a little shy, and he could see where they got the 'awwwww' kind of mentalities from. they didn't really help him, because the more he started to notice girls, the more awkward he began to feel around them. he and wendy stopped hanging out so much. that's when gavin started looking out for his little brother, spencer.
spencer was pretty much gavin's complete opposite. he had jet black hair and was probably the most outgoing kid that gavin knew. nothing could embarrass him, and he was always up for doing something crazy. the one thing that gavin and spencer did have in common, though, was music. since their father was a musician, it was definitely something that was instilled in them while they were young. when gavin entered seventh grade, he got a guitar and began to teach himself. he took some odd lessons here and there, but he never really carried on with the lessons; he preferred to teach himself. spencer was more into the drums, and sometimes the two boys would jam in their garage. when gavin entered high school, he was in a few odd bands before he found one where he really felt comfortable. that was about freshman year. during the end of his sophomore year, gavin fell apart.
it was wendy's senior prom. she had been absolutely ecstatic. it was the night that she had been planning for practically her entire high school life. her dress was stunning; it was purple, strapless, and flowed down to the floor. her hair was down and curled beautifully, with her bangs pinned back. she looked absolutely perfect. she kissed gavin on the top of the head before she left, and the last thing she said to him was that she was gonna bring him something sweet back from wherever she and her friends had planned to go for prom weekend. it was one o'clock the next morning when they got the call. wendy and three of her friends were in a car accident. an eighteen wheeler had demolished her friend's puny little vw bug. the car was pretty much in shambles, and all four of them were lost. that broke gavin into pieces. he didn't go to school monday, or for the rest of the week, for that matter. spencer found him in his bathroom monday afternoon, shaking. there was blood all over the bathroom floor and before he could even scream, his phone was out and he was calling 911. luckily, he had paid attention in health and applied enough pressure to the wounds. the first thing gavin said when he woke up was 'god, i'm in so much trouble.'
after constant watching, he assured his parents that he was fine, and had explained to them to just tell everyone that he was in there for stress related health complications. that seemed to fool everyone. well.. everyone but his band mates. they had filled his position until he was out of the hospital. after that, he had been dedicating most of his time to the band. they were the only ones that knew what happened to him. the scars on his wrists were pretty much an explanation, but he's done what he can to hide them. after graduation, and getting the opportunity to go on tour, gavin jumped on it. he still keeps close tabs on spencer, texting him every day. he promised himself that he already lost one sibling, he was not gonna let anything happen to spencer.
----- there was no real secret that asher wasn't the most enthusiastic person about sharing his music. it wasn't that he thought he wasn't good or anything like that, he just wasn't that big on showcasing it to other people. it was a real problem, because he ultimately wanted to get into the music business. how was he going to get recognized by anyone if he wasn't showing his music to anyone? it was a problem he needed to get over. he had plenty of songs that he had recorded on his laptop, it wouldn't be a problem to put them on a demo tape and let people listen to it, but he just kept holding back. sometimes he really hated his shyness. he loved music, he really did. he didn't know why he was so nervous about letting people hear his music, it wasn't like anyone had ever majorly put it down, but part of him was a little bit scared that he would get shot down. he tried to tell himself that the music business wasn't always friendly, and it wasn't necessarily the nicest business in the world, but he figured if he loved something that much, he should go after it. if anyone really knew asher, they knew that he sometimes spent hours on end at his piano, or on the floor with his guitar. if there was something that he needed to get out, he sat down and played until he got it out. sometimes it was alright, but other times, he really had something brilliant written down in his notebooks. he was always a little bit apprehensive to show it to anyone else.NAME rita(h)

ROLEPLAY EXAMPLE
i took one big step and i looked away
i thought of all the things that i wanted to say
----- as he strummed lightly at the guitar strings, without quite noticing it, his voice started to sing the lyrics under his breath. what was the big deal about singing? it wasn't like there was anyone around to hear him. asher always told himself that if he didn't get over his fear of singing in front of people, he'd never make it in the music industry, and he'd probably end up falling flat on his face. he wasn't really tone deaf or anything like that, he just had a little problem with letting people hear him. there was no one really in the park, so he wasn't as on edge as he usually was, but there was still a chance that someone could walk by. he really didn't know what was with his nerves, but they were there, and most of the time, they were pretty apparant. wow, that sounds really good what you’re playing. is it something you made up just now? asher jumped at the sudden voice, and looked up to see who it was. the girl didn't look familiar, but she did seem interested in what he was doing. her bright blue eyes sparkled in a way that he'd never seen someone's eyes sparkle before, especially around him. not to say that he wasn't sparkle worthy, but he didn't really ever let his sparkle worthiness show. oh.. uh-uhm.. he stuttered. he really needed to work on talking to people. like, seriously. s-sorta. kinda, uhm.. woke up w-with a tune in my head. his words were a bit rushed, and if there was any other background noise, it probably would have been difficult for someone to hear him. the park was, for the most part, though, peaceful.
----- the girl seemed nice enough. she sort of radiated warmth, in asher's opinion. she looked like she was pretty cool. the name’s jem mckenzie by the way. i don’t know if you know me though? yeah, he didn't really recognize the name. well, i met someone new, he thought, allowing his hands to relax from the neck of his guitar. he didn't really have too much of the song down, anyway. oh. i-i'm asher. his voice was still bit hushed, but he held his hand out, something that he was trying to do more. he figured he had to start somewhere, why not start by shaking people's hands at first? it let them know that he wasn't a total recluse or something along those lines.
----- asher didn't really know when his painfully uncomfortable demeanor around others started. the farthest back that he could remember was not making friends too easily in kindergarten. the girls sort of intimidated him, and he was never really into the hot wheels and g.i. joes that the boys played with. he was sort of off in his own little world most of the time, and that proved to be a complication when others were involved. most kids his age didn't want to be by themselves, the always wanted to be with their friends. not to say that asher didn't like being around people, but he didn't like being around people that he didn't know. even through high school, he liked to be in his own group of friends. needless to say the football players and the cheerleaders kind of scared him a little bit. not so much physically as non. their popularity intimidated him. sometimes he thought if they knew that he existed, and he crossed one of them, they would get the rest of the school to make his life a living hell. so he stayed in the background, and it got him this far.
----- people didn't usually just come up to asher and start talking to him, which is why he was a little startled by jem. she sort of just came up and started talking. not just talking, but complimenting his music. he wasn't sure what to say to that. people didn't usually compliment his music. then again, people didn't usually hear his music at all, so he wasn't quite sure what to say when a compliment came along. he smiled weakly, feeling just a little bit awkward. not as awkward as he usually would have felt if someone just walked up to him and complimented his guitar playing, but jem made him feel a little more at ease. as he was at ease, he learned that he sometimes said things that don't always make sense. do you always come to the park this early in the morning? maybe she did. maybe she didn't. asher didn't know, but he did know that if it wasn't for this song that was pounding at his head, he'd probably be at home, sound asleep underneath his covers.
